Home

This website is designed to provide staff and students at the University of Copenhagen with information about Influenza A (H1N1) and about the University's contingency plans in the event of an outbreak of the disease.

Both the Danish National Board of Health and the University's own medical advisors on influenza expect that the vast majority of cases of Influenza A (H1N1) will be no more severe than ordinary seasonal flu. The increased risk of large numbers of people contracting the illness at once may have a detrimental affect on both classes and administration, so precautions need to be taken.

What will the University of Copenhagen do?

The University of Copenhagen will follow the guidelines issued by the Danish National Board of Health and the Danish Emergency Management Agency to limit infection rates and safeguard essential operations in the event of mass absence due to illness.

The University HR department, in consultation with the University's executive management and medical advisors on influenza, Professor Allan Randrup Thomsen and Professor Jens Lundgren, are calling on the faculties to draw up local plans for maintaining operations despite high levels of absence.

Individual faculties will take ongoing tangible initiatives to reduce the risk of infection - e.g. set up hand-disinfectant dispensers, maintain a clean environment and provide information about reducing the risk of infection. Read more about the contingency planning and obtain advice about preventing infection.

Cancelled classes

In the event that classes are cancelled due to the absence of teachers and/or students who contract Influenza A (H1N1), guidelines are in place for re-scheduled classes, etc. Please direct any questions arising from cancelled classes to the Student Advisory Service or to Student Counselling.
